My main research interest is the evolution of life, especially the evolution of Mollusca in Earth history. I use fossils in my research to understand the ecology and evolution of molluscs in deep time. I graduated from LMU with a Master's in Paleobiology with my thesis on the taxonomy and ecology of the Lower Jurassic bivalves from southern Germany. Currently, I am doing a PhD on the phylogeny, classification and diversity of slit band gastropods (Order Pleurotomariida). I collect new collections for my research and study museum collections including the type material to document the past diversity of this group and to understand why their diversity decreased through time. In my research, I use traditional taxonomic methods, high resolution imaging techniques, various statistical and morphometric methods and modern phylogenetic methods.
