Short CV
Dirk Müller has a strong geoscientific background with BScs in geography and geology and a MSc in mineralogy. As a PhD student he focused on an applied mineralogical topic by developing corrosion resistant zirconia coatings for boiler tubes in waste-to-energy plants. During his postdoc period he combined these two skills of natural and applied mineralogy by investigating the interaction of volcanic ash with thermal barrier coatings of gas turbine engines. Recently, Dirk became a staff member at the Department for Earth and Environmental Sciences, where he is also the lab manager for EPMA, XRF and Moessbauer
